9 July 2023Tackling Mouse Infestations in Your Home
16 July 2023As a homeowner, nothing quite compares to the unnerving feeling of having unwelcome rodents invade your sanctuary. Here at Brough Pest Control, we know all too well the urgency of the situation and the vital importance of rapid, effective measures to protect your home. Today, we’ll walk you through one of our most recent missions in Anlaby, where we had the opportunity to deploy our expert knowledge in rat and mouse prevention to stop these pests from entering the property.
Understanding Rat and Mouse Prevention
Before we dive into the specifics of our Anlaby case, it’s crucial to have a fundamental understanding of rodent prevention. Rat and mouse prevention revolves around a two-pronged strategy:
- Elimination of Food Sources: Ensuring all food, including pet food, is stored securely, and that waste is adequately disposed of or sealed.
- Prevention of Entry Points: Rats and mice are incredibly flexible and can squeeze through gaps that seem impossible. It’s therefore vital to identify and seal all possible entry points.
The Anlaby Case
Now, let’s turn our attention to the Anlaby project. The client had sighted mice in the house, prompting the call to our team at Brough Pest Control. After a comprehensive inspection of the property, we identified the culprit: the house’s airbrick vents.
Airbrick vents are designed to allow for necessary airflow in properties, reducing the risk of damp and other humidity-induced issues. However, their downside is that they can provide an easy access point for small pests like rats and mice.
To address this, our team installed specially designed airbrick vent covers that serve a dual purpose. Firstly, they maintain the essential ventilation functionality of the airbricks, ensuring the property remains well-aerated. Secondly, they provide a physical barrier to prevent rodent entry.
The Procedure of Mouse Prevention
The installation process involved a straightforward two-step approach: drilling and screwing the covers over the airbrick vents. We installed two of these covers on the back of the client’s property, where we identified the highest risk of rodent ingress.
Once we were confident that the mice had vacated the property, we proceeded to seal the vents with the covers. This procedure effectively sealed the property, ensuring that while fresh air could continue to circulate freely, pests were blocked from entry.
The Outcome
Thanks to the airbrick vent covers, our client in Anlaby can now rest easy knowing their home is protected against the ingress of unwanted rodents, without compromising on the necessary ventilation that their property needs.
We are incredibly proud of the results of this job, and our client is delighted with the work done and the peace of mind they now have. Stay tuned for pictures detailing the process and the final outcome, showcasing our commitment to offering not just effective but also visually appealing pest control solutions.
